What a Difference an Hour Makes

There is a lot of talk. And there has been some rain—for all of an hour. But this shot was taken just a few minutes ago from just outside our Wilmaville.com offices. It's hot. It's humid. And it just rained. Just like every other day in late summer in Wilmington. You can't fly out of here. But the weather is fine. Maybe there will be some weather later. Weather.com is saying Hanna is approaching hurricane strength and still headed our way.

In other news, ILM called to say Dan's flight is back on. We are racing out the door to the airport to see if we can make it.

  1. Well? Do you have power? How much tree debris did you get?

Over here at 305, the cleanup operation has started. Not too much from the storm really, but we had some yard work that needed to be done before the storm, so we're taking advantage of this opportunity.

We lost power about 4:30 AM for about 30 seconds. As I lay awake and listened to the storm last night, I heard three different transformers blow up. So someone was without power. Hope you're not!

  2. We lost power over and over again but brielfy at about the same time you did, Andie. I was thinking there was a tree knocking out power to my house. Did you lose power repeatedly? I'm tring to decide if I should call the city to trim the trees in front of my house. My brother tells me the state got a federal mandate to be proactive about that and that I should.

We have a mess in the yard. And we can't find our rake. (But I suspect Dan set it down somewhere rather than it got taken to Oz by a tornado.) The dogs are very skittish today. Otherwise all is well here.

  3. No, we only lost power once, thank goodness. Our dogs slept through the whole thing - snored in fact. They weren't fazed at all. We spent all day yesterday cleaning up the yard, but to be truthful, it needed a full day of help before Hanna came through. A lot of it was trimming and raking that we needed to do before the storm and I kept saying "Well, no point in doing it twice..."

Drove by your HQ yesterday and then looked up and there you were in the car right in front of us. We stalked you all the way to Oleander (or was it Wrightsville - now I forget), where you went right.

We have friends down off Masonboro Loop who lost power for most of yesterday. Looks like a couple of squished cars notwithstanding, we got off pretty light.
